Future Gauchos,

Our first session of Clinics and Cage Game League has been awesome!

Hitting Clinic has focused on line drives up the middle, finishing swings all the way and spinning the back foot.  Pitching Clinic has covered the stretch, follow through and balance.  Catchers have just done a lot of yelling with receiving and blocking mixed in only a few bruises I think.

We are now opening registration for our next 4 week session!  Clinics will be Monday nights November 6, 13, 27 and December 4 and Cage Game League will be Thursday nights November 9, 16, 30 and December 7 (please note we skip Thanksgiving week).  The cost is $90 for each clinic for the 4 week session (If you do one skill the cost is $90, if you do two skills (i.e. Hitting and Pitching, the cost is $180).  All clinics are held in the lighted and covered batting cage at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium on campus at UCSB.

Hitting Clinic
Monday 5:30-6:30pm
Ages 6-13
We will work on skills and drills for beginners and advanced players with coaches Matt Harvey, Dylan Jones and current and former Gaucho players.

Pitching Clinic
Monday 6:30-7:30pm
Ages 6-13
Learn the basics of pitching (throwing mechanics included) as well as ways to enhance your command and velocity.  Run by Dylan Jones and guest appearances from King Bobb (if you have been to camp or clinic, your son knows King Bobb).

Catching Clinic
Monday 6:30-7:30pm
Ages 8-13
This clinic is for experienced catchers we will work on receiving, blocking and throwing the Gaucho way.  Participants need to have their own gear (reach out to your league if you dont own your own set).  A lot of work and energy at this clinic Matt Harveys favorite clinic.

Cage Game League
First pitch Thursday 5:30pm (each game lasts 30 minutes)
Ages 6-13
This will be our second time doing this, and the first has gone really well.  The kids love playing it, there are a ton of coaching opportunities and parents dont have to sit around for 2 hours to watch their kid swing the bat 2 times.

The game rules are:

  • 9 innings or 30 minutes of play
  • Coach throws batting practice or front toss
  • Hitters take at bats where they try to score points for their team by hitting certain parts of the cage
  • Most points at the end of the game wins
  • Teams are comprised of 3-4 participants you can sign up as a full team (best option) or as a free agent (you will be placed on a team each week)
  • Cost is $60 for a free agent, or $150 for a team of 3

To register for clinics or cage game, email Matt Harvey at with the activities you would like to participate in, name and age of participant as well as an emergency contact phone number please.

We are also offering individual and group lessons email Matt Harvey for more info.
